Chandigarh Electricity Cut Today : Electricity workers strike, High Court summons Chief Engineer

Chandigarh Electricity Cut Today : This time, the electricity workers have got the support of political parties as well as the Resident Welfare Association of the city, besides Pendu Sangharsh Committee and farmer organizations.

Electricity workers’ strike has started in Chandigarh against the privatization of electricity department. There has been an outcry in Chandigarh as soon as the 72-hour strike begins. Due to the strike, there was a simultaneous power cut in many areas of the city around 12:00 pm last night. All the claims of the administration also seem to be failing, because people are not getting any help on the helpline numbers.

On the other hand, Punjab and Haryana High Court has summoned the Chief Engineer of Chandigarh, taking suo motu cognizance of the problems being faced by the people due to the strike of electricity workers in Chandigarh.

400 Outsourcing Workers Has Called For Restoring Power : Mayor Sarbjit Kaur (Chandigarh Electricity Cut Today)

Chandigarh Mayor Sarbjit Kaur tweeted that I am constantly receiving complaints about power failure from many parts of Chandigarh. The Chandigarh Administration has called in 400 outsourcing workers from Punjab and Haryana so that the work of restoring power in the city can be done immediately.

On the other hand, quoting sources, it has been learned that Punjab has given a helping hand, while no response has been received from Haryana so far.

According to the information received till 8:00 am, Sector-22A, 35A, 43, Moulijagran, Vikas Nagar, Molly Pind, 44, 45C, 45, 42B, 52, 53, 53, 56, 41A, 63, 50, Kishangarh, Light was cut in many parts of 28D, 37, 38, 38W, 27 and Manimajra.

Due to power outage, everything including classes of children, PU exams, work from home is being affected. Those people who are corona infected and are in home isolation are facing more problems. The administration knew that the employees were going on strike, but the department did not have any backup plan, due to which the people were suffering.

Helpline number issued but to no avail

In view of the strike, the administration has issued helpline numbers but the people are not getting any benefit from it. Common people are calling the complaint centers since morning. The administration has appealed to the general public to keep a check on the electricity line. If anyone is seen tampering with them, then they can immediately inform the police control room or other helpline number. There is a strike to fulfill these demands

  • Privatization of electricity department should be stopped.
  • Fix the cost of machinery, building and land and get it audited.
  • The performance of the private company to which the electricity department is being entrusted, should be investigated for five years.
  • Government status of electricity employees should be restored.
