- Clean Environment of Hospital is survival key for patient: Dr Mandeep Bhandari
Taruni Gandhi,Chandigarh : In sync with the theme of World Health Day 2022, ‘Our Planet, Our Health,’ Dr Mandeep Bhandari, IAS, Joint Secretary to Government of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare said, “Conserving the environment is not just an issue anymore. It is a survival truth. Since the quality of the environment has a direct impact on a patient’s recovery and health, we should all be committed to provide a clean and healthy environment to our patients.”
“Lets make Swachhata a part of our daily lives and not limit it to the fifteen days,’’ the Joint Secretary further said as he appreciated the role of different stakeholders in maintaining the healthy environment in the Institute.
The Joint Secretary was accompanied by Prof. Surjit Singh, Director PGIMER, Prof. Vipin Koushal, Medical Superintendent-cum-Head, Department of Hospital Administration, Sh. Kumar Gaurav Dhawan (IRS), Deputy Director Administration, Sh. Kumar Abhay (IAAS), Financial Advisor and other senior functionaries of the institute.
Later, the Joint Secretary visited Nehru Extension Block, earlier designated as COVID hospital wherein the dignitary interacted with doctors, paramedics and patients. Enquiring about the management of the COVID patients, especially during the peak, he lauded PGIMER’s exemplary initiatives for seamless execution during the pandemic.
The Joint Secretary was here in PGIMER on a two day visit to review the progress made under ‘Swachchta Pakhwada’, an initiative under Swachh Bharat Mission, launched with the objective of bringing a fortnight of intense focus on the issues and practices of Swachhata.
