In a scathing attack on IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders’ CEO Venkatesh Mysore, former India player, coach & TV critic Madan Lal along with this year’s stand-in IPL Auctioneer Charu Sharma attacked the role of KKR CEO in team selection.
While answering an open forum organized by Indian Sports Fans for cricket fans, both expressed their dismay over Shreyas Iyer’s recent accusations against his team’s CEO.
It is the job of coaches and captain
Answering fans on the ongoing issue, Madan Lal said,” I am personally shocked & dismayed on Iyer’s revelations. If that’s true then what are coaches and support staff doing. It is the job of coaches and captain to decide the team and not the CEO”.
On being probed further by Indian Sports Fans, the 1983 World Cup winner added, “That’s the reason why the team is performing so bad on the field. Something is fundamentally wrong within the team.”
CEOs should stay away from such trespassing
Charu Sharma was more brutal in his assessment of the situation & confessed to fans saying “As a former CEO of RCB, all I can say is that IPL team owners & CEOs should stay away from such trespassing. A CEO should look at the operations, advertisers’ commitment & PNL of the team.”
He firmly added “The management has no business inside the doings of the dressing room. It’s a no-go zone for them.
